Biocidal Product Licensing Updates and Banned Active Substances

Some active substances used in biocidal products are no longer supported by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). As a result, licensing processes for certain product types in Turkey have been affected. According to the announcement by the General Directorate of Public Health, the following active substances have been removed from the permitted list:

  • Warfarin (CAS No: 81-81-2) – Product Type 14

  • Thiamethoxam (CAS No: 153719-23-4) – Product Type 18

  • Diflubenzuron (CAS No: 35367-38-5) – Product Type 18

  • Sodium bromide (CAS No: 7647-15-6) – Product Type 2, 11, and 12

  • Pyrithione zinc (CAS No: 13463-41-7) – Product Type 2 and 10

  • Ammonium sulfate (CAS No: 7783-20-2) – Product Type 11 and 12

Licensing Deadlines and Final Dates

According to the announcement, the deadlines for the production and import of biocidal products containing these substances are as follows:

  • Products containing Warfarin: Production and import must be stopped immediately.

  • Products containing Ammonium sulfate: Production and import allowed until April 28, 2025.

  • Products containing Thiamethoxam, Diflubenzuron, Sodium bromide, and Pyrithione zinc: Production and import allowed until July 31, 2025.

  • Products whose production and import have ceased can remain on the market until their shelf life expires.

Recommendations for Companies

These changes are crucial for manufacturers and importers of biocidal products. Companies should remove these substances from their product portfolios and comply with updated licensing regulations. Reformulating products with alternative active substances and preparing for new licensing processes is strongly recommended.
