Digital Product Passport and the Future of Product Safety Discussed at the International Symposium
The International Symposium “Product Safety in the Digital Era: What is Next?”, organized within the scope of the Technical Assistance Project for Product Safety in E-Commerce coordinated by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Trade and funded by the European Union, brought together industry experts to discuss the future of product safety, traceability, and sustainability in the digital era.
During the 5th Session titled “Digital Product Passport: Implementation Infrastructures”, Selcuk Bilgin, Founder & CEO of UseSafe – Doruksistem AS and DorukWell, together with distinguished panel participants, evaluated the future of the Digital Product Passport (DPP), data sharing, traceability, and trustworthy digital product ecosystems under the moderation of Selin Ozsahin Aykent.
The panel highlighted that the Digital Product Passport is not merely a technological system, but a comprehensive ecosystem transformation requiring regulatory compliance, sustainability, data integration, human resources, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
Representatives from different sectors emphasized the growing importance of end-to-end traceability, sustainable production, digital product identities, and reliable data infrastructures in global trade.
Speaking on behalf of Doruksistem, Selcuk Bilgin underlined that compliance data such as REACH should be positioned at the core of DPP systems alongside sustainability data. He also emphasized the importance of integrating national infrastructures such as ÜTS, KKS, and TAREKS under a unified digital product identity framework.
