Approval Period Extended for Biocidal Products Containing DEET!
The approval period for N,N-diethyl-meta-toluamide (DEET, CAS No: 134-62-3), which was previously registered by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) to expire on December 31, 2025, has been extended until January 31, 2027. This extension, based on the Commission Implementing Decision 2024/2950 dated December 3, 2024, follows the European Parliament and Council’s Regulation (EU) 528/2012, providing a significant opportunity for biocidal product manufacturers and license holders.
Critical Notice for License Holders!
If your biocidal product containing DEET has a license expiration date of December 31, 2025, and your long-term stability analyses have been completed, you can now apply for a “License Extension” via the ÜTS (Product Tracking System). Once approved, the product’s validity will be extended until January 31, 2027. This ensures business continuity and prevents potential sales losses.
