
ECHA’s Hybrid Workshop: Preparing for DWD Notification Procedures
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is organising a hybrid-format workshop that will bring together all stakeholders wishing to make changes to the European positive list for materials in contact with drinking water. The workshop will provide essential information and tools for parties intending to add, review, or remove starting substances, compositions, or constituents under the Drinking Water Directive.
Purpose of the Workshop
The workshop aims to prepare participants for the notification of intention process starting in 2026 and the application process starting in 2027. Attendees will receive detailed information on legal obligations, data requirements, and the IT tools, IUCLID systems, and application guides developed by ECHA.
First Day of the Programme (Half Day)
Presentations on the first day will include:
An overview from the European Commission on the implementation of hygiene requirements for materials in contact with drinking water
Legal obligations and data requirements related to DWD notifications of intention
The IUCLID template to be used for DWD notifications
ECHA’s guidance documents, manuals, and support materials for notifiers
ECHA’s ongoing work on setting up the DWD application process

Second Day of the Programme (Full Day)
The second day will follow a more practical format with live demonstrations and Q&A sessions. Topics include:
Preparatory work required before submission
Creation of the IUCLID notification of intention dossier
Submission of the dossier to ECHA
Publication of the notification on the ECHA CHEM database
Interactive Q&A session with participants
Who Should Attend?
This workshop is specifically designed for economic operators and Member State authorities seeking to modify the DWD European positive list. Participants will gain practical insight into using ECHA’s tools to prepare and submit their DWD notifications successfully.
Presentations and Recordings
At the end of the event, presentation slides and video recordings will be published on ECHA’s official website.
Additionally, a Q&A document containing all responses will be made available to participants.
Participation & Registration
This is a hybrid event. Physical participation is limited to 50 seats at the ECHA premises. Priority will be given to Member State representatives and DWD user group members. Please do not make any travel arrangements before receiving confirmation from ECHA.
