EU’s Competitiveness Compass Accelerates Green Transition and Innovation

The European Union (EU) has unveiled its Competitiveness Compass strategy, aiming to strengthen its global competitiveness while ensuring sustainable growth. This comprehensive plan focuses on industry, energy, and security, positioning Europe as a leader in innovation.

The Three Core Pillars of the Competitiveness Compass

1. Innovation

The EU will enhance its R&D investments, supporting high-growth sectors such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, quantum technologies, and robotics. Industrial infrastructure will be reinforced through targeted incentives.

2. Green Transition

The Clean Industry Deal will drive policies to reduce the industrial carbon footprint, while the Affordable Energy Action Plan aims to lower energy costs. Special transformation plans will be implemented for energy-intensive sectors such as steel, metal, and chemicals.

3. Security

To strengthen supply chain resilience, the EU will establish new partnerships under the Clean Trade and Investment Alliances. This initiative will secure access to critical raw materials, clean energy, and sustainable fuel sources.

Mechanisms to Strengthen Competitiveness

The Competitiveness Compass will streamline bureaucratic processes, enhance financial access, and launch new skills development programs. The European Savings and Investment Union will promote venture capital investments, while the Skills Union will focus on developing digital and technical expertise.

This strategy is based on the Draghi Report, prepared by former European Central Bank President Mario Draghi. By implementing this roadmap, Europe is set to reinforce its position as a global economic powerhouse.
