2024 Third Quarter Inspection Results for Type-1 and Type-19 Biocidal Products
The Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK) has conducted inspections for biocidal products that directly contact the human body during the third quarter of 2024, covering the months of July, August, and September. The inspections focused on Type-1 (products for human hygiene) and Type-19 (repellents and attractants) biocidal products, during which non-compliant products (those that violate technical regulations or pose risks) were identified.
General Inspection Data
According to the inspection results, a total of 27 biocidal products were inspected. During this inspection, both products that were technically non-compliant and those that posed risks were identified. The results are as follows:
- Total Number of Inspected Products: 27
- Total Number of Non-Compliant Products: 14
- Total Number of Risky Products: 9
- Total Number of Technically Non-Compliant Products: 5
- Total Administrative Fines Imposed for Non-Compliance: 1,156,050 TL
Risky Products and Sanctions
As a result of the inspections, 14 products were identified as non-compliant, and administrative penalties, including fines, withdrawal from the market, and destruction processes, were applied. You can find more information about the 9 risky products on the TİTCK’s official website.
The aim of these inspections is to ensure that biocidal products on the market meet necessary legal standards, protecting both consumer health and the environment. Non-compliant products can have serious consequences for human health due to hazardous chemical contents and usage purposes that violate technical regulations.
Sanctions Applied to Non-Compliant Products
The sanctions imposed on non-compliant products identified during inspections include:
- Administrative Fines: A total of 1,156,050 TL was imposed as administrative fines.
- Withdrawal from the Market: Risky and technically non-compliant products were withdrawn from the market.
- Destruction Processes: Biocidal products that posed a threat to health and the environment were destroyed.
Importance of Inspections

Type-1 and Type-19 biocidal products play a crucial role in maintaining human hygiene. However, when the chemicals in these products are not used in compliance with regulations, they can pose risks to users and harm the environment. Therefore, regular inspections of biocidal products are essential to protect public health.
These inspections conducted by TİTCK are aimed at ensuring the compliance of biocidal products with legal regulations and increasing consumer safety in the market.
The detection of risky and technically non-compliant products during the third quarter inspections of biocidal products in 2024 aims to minimize health and environmental risks associated with the use of these products. Consumers using biocidal products should pay attention to the labeling information of the products they purchase and only choose those that comply with legal regulations.
These inspection results demonstrate the stringent oversight efforts to protect consumer health.
